SpaceX teases with new spacesuit design
Billionaire serial entrepreneur Elon Musk-led SpaceX shared an image of a new spacesuit that astronauts may one day wear during space travel aboard a SpaceX craft. The image, posted on Wednesday, features an astronaut wearing a crisp white suit with black paneling, along with a helmet with a huge, highlighted face shield.
Through an Instagram post, Musk said that the new spacesuit shown in the picture was of an actual one that the company will give to its astronauts sometime in the future.
In the post, the renowned billionaire entrepreneur wrote, “Worth noting that this actually works (not a mockup) … incredibly hard to balance esthetics and function.”
The company has designed the new spacesuit to use it on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon, a new spacecraft that SpaceX is developing to ferry astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) under contracts with government-run space agency NASA.
