France Plans Climate Summit in Paris on December 12

French President Emmanuel Macron said that he has not given up the idea of bringing U.S. President Donald Trump to back the climate accord signed by world leaders in Paris. President Trump pulled back from the Paris Climate accord and this came as a rude shock for world leaders. President Macron said that Paris will host a Climate Summit on December 12.

After meeting on G20 members in Hamburg, world leaders have expressed their concern about Paris Climate Accord. President Trump had a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hamburg. Both the leaders have repeated their commitment to improve relationship between Russia and the United States.

President Macron said that his administration will continue with climate change agenda. The Paris Summit in December 2017 will focus on financial aspects of the climate accord. Macron added that he hopes to convince President Trump regarding the role U.S. can play in helping with the important climate issue.

President Macron added, “On Dec. 12, two years after the Paris climate agreement, I will therefore convene a summit to take further action on climate, notably on the financial front. I never despair to convince, because I think it is a duty, given my position, and it is a trait of my character.”

President Trump will be official guest during Bastille Day military parade in France on July 14.
