Qualcomm Unveils Two New Snapdragon Mobile Platforms
Qualcomm on Tuesday introduced the world to its new mobile platforms, dubbed Snapdragon 660 and 630 that have been designed to push the chip giant’s processors to new levels.
Features that were previously only found in the 800 processors like the Qualcomm Spectra camera ISP, Hexagon Vector eXtensions (HVX) and Qualcomm Kryo CPU are now available to those who will rely on the Snapdragon 660 and 630 processors in the mid-tier market.
With the new processors, users can now take advantage of the 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP that can capture up to 24 MP single ISP pictures with no lag, enhanced autofocus in addition to true-to-life color capture.
The Spectra platform also provides support for 4K video capture.
The Snapdragon 630 processor supports dual cameras of up to 13MP, while the 660 processor is capable of supporting cameras of up to 16MP. The Snapdragon 630 platform also caters for 2 by 2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi that enhances Wi-Fi signals.
Qualcomm said in a statement, “This is especially beneficial in houses and offices made of thick brick and concrete walls, engineered to allow for a better connection in the entire space without coverage dead spots.”
The Snapdragon 660 platform has already hit e market shelves, while the Snapdragon 630 platform is scheduled to be launched towards the end of this month.
