Windows Phone 8.1 Update includes Voice-over LTE support, Folders on Start Screen
Microsoft is likely to launch the Windows Phone 8.1 update, but one most-talked-about feature is allowing users to create and manage folders on the start screen. There would certainly be updates-related software and hardware as well.
Moreover, there would be additional support for smart cases. This would be similar to the LG QuickCircle and HTC Dot View case that functions by responding to the way the phone owner uses the case. So, all that would be needed to wake up the phone from sleep or see the information being set by you is just to open the case.
The concept of interactive cases is relatively new, but efforts of Microsoft are likely to bring advancements for case technology. Cortana is another important update to come along the Windows Phone 8.1. Cortana is actually a personal voice assistant accessible through the Windows Phone. It will facilitate a phonebook entry to trigger speech while travelling in a vehicle.
Bluetooth music through aptX, Voice over LTE or VoLTE support, custom lock screens by manufacturer, medium Live Tile for Store app, display with 1280 x 800 screen resolution and support for bigger devices are also included in the Windows Phone 8.1 update.
A formal announcement is yet to be made by Microsoft, but next month is highly likely to bring the Windows Phone 8.1 software update for many users waiting curiously.
The developer documents have revealed that Windows Phone would also offer support for screen sizes up to seven inches. The resolution would be 1280-by-768 (or 1280-by-800 with on-screen buttons).
